The Wedding Dress

One of the highlights of our festival in 2018 was a display of bridal dresses and bouquets which were lovingly displayed in the setting of our ancient church of St Mary’s in Astbury, Congleton. Local people who had stored these personal treasures loaned them specially for this one time display. Drawing on this display and her wealth of knowledge and experience, Jenny Unsworth guides us through the history of bridal gowns. Jenny has spent many years researching historic clothing and has volunteered at several National Trust properties making replica costumes for staff to wear.
